Waiting for Mission Call

Kelsy submitted her papers about a month ago to serve as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She will put her life on hold for a period of 18 months to go to whereever in the world the Lord calls her.  She will leave her family, schooling, friends, and everything she loves to do at home and go to work spreading the love and joy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those in the location she is called to.  She will only be able to communicate with friends and family through letters and emails once a week, and will be able to call home for a short phone call (or Skype session) on Christmas and Mother's Day!

Valentine's and a growing young woman

On Thursday, February 9, 2012 Kelsy went to her first "Semi-Formal" school dance. It was a Valentine's dance at the Jr. High. After school she went home with a friend who did her hair, makeup and loaned her a beautiful red/pink dress to wear. She then came home before going to this friend's musical play performance, and the two of them going together to the dance. Kelsy actually "slow" danced with 3 boys that night she said. My little girl isn't so little anymore. She is becoming a beautiful young woman, as you can see in the picture. :) Kelsy we love you.

Update on Kelsy's Cough

Kelsy finally got rid of her cough. It was like turning off a switch. She just all of a sudden wasn't coughing anymore. She is so happy. :) Now to finish all the homework and missed school work...:)

Last night we took a ride through the Spanish Fork Festival of Lights. Stacy, Todd, Grandma Wiscombe, Dad, Kelsy, Eric and I all piled into our van and drove down to the Spanish Fork park. We try to go see this every other year, alternating it with the lights display at Thanksgiving Point. After seeing the light display we drove around South Mapleton looking at the houses decorated with beautiful lights and displays. It was lots of fun.

Kelsy's cough

Kelsy has been out of school for 4 weeks. It started out as having the stomach flu the two days before Thanksgiving vacation. Then on Thanksgiving Day she came down with a cold. Poor thing had her eyes and nose running like crazy. She had a cold for about two days, but the cough has lasted forever. It is so bad she can't go to school because it is a constant cough. I'm talking about a cough that is dry and she coughs every 30 seconds to 2 minutes. She is so sore from all the coughing. We've been to two different doctors. Done chest x-rays, tried asthma inhalers and nebulizer treatments, phenegrine with codeine, honey/lemon tea, honey/aloe vera juice tea, cough drops, everything. Nothing has stopped it. The only time she has any relief from it is when she is sleeping. The doctor has finally given her a strong antibiotic, and it is helping a little, but she is still coughing prolificly.

General Conference-October 1, 2011

Wow!! What an amazing experience. Eric, Kelsy, and I just returned from attending the morning session of conference at the Conference Center in SLC with Grandma, Dad, Ed and Melissa. It was such a wonderful time. Especially to be there for the announcement that the church is going to turn the burned out Provo tabernacle into a second temple here in Provo, Utah. I love the gospel and it's wonderful messages we have learned today, and will learn tomorrow during this conference time. :)

Fire at the neighbors house

Yesterday at about 3:30 our neighbor's house caught fire. I had gone out to put some trash into the garbage can and smelled smoke. I could see black smoke coming out of the attic. Thankfully they are all safe and sound, however, the house is a total lose.

Kelsy and I stayed at my parent's house during the night because the smoke had permeated our place and was bothering us. We are all fine.
